Social Security

Peru’s social security system provides employees with essential protections, including healthcare, pensions, and workplace injury coverage. Social security is primarily managed by EsSalud for health insurance and two pension systems, the National Pension System (SNP), a government-run program, and the Private Pension System (SPP), which consists of individual retirement accounts managed by private administrators. Employers must contribute to EsSalud on behalf of their employees, while pension contributions are typically deducted from employees' salaries.

Time Off

In Peru, full-time employees who have one year of continuous service to an employer are entitled to 30 calendar days of paid vacation per year. Employees can take their leave all at once or split it into shorter periods, but at least 15 days must be taken consecutively.

13th-month Bonus 

Employees are entitled to two mandatory bonus payments each year, known as gratifcaciones. These bonuses are equal to one month's salary each and are paid in July for Peru’s Independence Day and December for Christmas. Additionally, employers don’t deduct social security contributions from these bonuses, which increases the employee's take-home pay.
